Silver Falls Canyon has the reddest rock in the Escalante region.  It is from the Wingate Sandstone layer.  In the evening light and in reflected light at other times the colors come up even more.  The sandstone lies upon the Chinle formation which is much softer.  The picture here shows that boundary.  The picture when viewing carefully, show a couple of interesting elements.  One is the vortex of forms draining into the center of the image.  The other is that the forms throughout the image has similar sizes in the picture view.  It is almost that they are pasted together to form an abstract collage.
